Duckworth Real Estate

Duckworth Real Estate officially opened in 1999 to meet the growing need for professional real estate representation on Nova Scotia's South Shore. Specializing in oceanfront properties and ocean view homes and undeveloped land, we've represented buyers and sellers from across Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean, Europe, the South Pacific and Asia.

Our office is a restored 18th century English barn in the historic seaside village of Kingsburg. It's a wonderful piece of traditional Lunenburg County architecture and an excellent example of a refurbished old building on the ocean.

We're a small team of three real estate professionals—John Duckworth, Anne Fouillard, and Piers Baker .  And we're all members of the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors (NSAR) and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), which owns and operates the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and has proprietary ownership of the REALTOR trademark.

The South Shore

A Destination Shaped by Seafaring and Adventure

The South Shore—known as the Lighthouse Route for all the lighthouses that still stand—is the end of the road. Experience its way of life and be amazed by the diversity, beauty and peace of its coastal landscape.

The South Shore's traditions are shaped by the sea. From Peggy's Cove and further south to Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct, beaches offer countless outdoor adventures including sea kayaking, sailing, surfing and diving. Watch the seals sunning on flat ocean rocks. The Bluenose II is an example of Nova Scotia's seafaring traditions.

With miles of magnificent beaches, rugged coastline, pounding surf, quiet bays and protected inlets, Nova Scotia has something to offer any buyer. It's not unusual to find property so secluded that another building or person is nowhere to be seen. Expect fishing boats, wharves, weathered fish shacks, sailboats and all the characteristic features of coastal living.

For fabulous canoeing and camping, be sure to explore Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site.  The Cabot Trail of Cape Breton is another jewel

And don't forget our fabulous farmers' markets in Lunenburg, Chester, Hubbards, Liverpool and Bridgewater

For centuries, the beauty of the South Shore has inspired artists, writers and musicians who come to various festivals.  Numerous festivals and theatres bring to life colourful characters, stories and music that capture the spirit of this dynamic coastal region. Pair these artists with masterly chefs who prepare some of the province's finest culinary offers for a truly memorable South Shore experience.

And if you'd like to explore other beautiful Nova Scotia towns, there's more to see in its varied regions and landscapes.  Lunenburg with its galleries, music, art and music schools has much to show you.  Blue Rocks and Stonehurst will enchant you.
