Rose Bay Homestead summer vacation rental available by the week or for the summer. Fully Furnished 4 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath Old Farm House on 32 acres with Ocean Access. Wander from forested trails down through the old homestead fields, across the road where another field takes you down to the shoreline of Lower Rose Bay. Ideal for a large family, or multiple families who love nature and outdoor fun. Five minute drive to Hirtle’s Beach or the Rose Bay General Store and Café. Less than 15 minute drive to the restaurants and shopping in historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site.  The 150 year-old farmhouse is in good condition, currently undergoing a facelift with new paint and furniture.  Facing the ocean, the house comfortably sleeps 8 people (12 with sofa beds). A sunny, south-facing deck runs the length of the house at the back. Upstairs offers three bedrooms: 2 rooms each have a queen bed, dresser and sitting area, 1 smaller room has a double bed, dresser, and closet (photos to follow as rooms are finished).  Full bathroom located upstairs with a bay window, double sink vanity, tub and shower combination (with whirlpool option). Downstairs, a long 4th bedroom doubles as a den, sleeping 4 with a bunk bed and a sofa that pulls out into a double bed. It also offers a flat screen, DVD, and VCR (Netflix and a large DVD and VHS collection included). The living room, dining room, and kitchen follow an open concept floor plan. The living room also has a sofa bed that pulls out into a double bed, a library, a sound system, and a view of the ocean. WiFi and a compact office work station with printer, scanner and copier. The dining room seats 8 – 12 (extra chairs and table extension available), with a server cabinet and a china cabinet at either end. Dining room has French doors opening onto the back porch equipped with deck furniture, table and lounge chairs. New gas BBQ included. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who love to cook.  Household appliances include: full fridge and extra half fridge, chest freezer, microwave, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, blender, hand held mixer, washing machine and drier, iron and ironing board, and vacuum cleaner. The laundry nook is off the kitchen hall and contains a half bathroom (toilet and sink). Linens and towels are provided but guests should bring their own beach towels and plastic mattress covers if desired. The Barn is available for storing bikes (rentals available in Lunenburg) or rainy days arts and crafts activities. On the water’s edge, the Old Boathouse has a locking door and is available for storing kayaks or canoes (rentals available in Lunenburg). Boathouse has a small deck with chairs to enjoy a view of the water. A lovely trail leads deep into the forest to a treehouse for wildlife viewing. The property backs onto the Lower LaHave Commons, a forested conservation area, which affords a great expanse of contiguous habitat for wildlife like deer, foxes, raccoons, and a diversity of birdlife. We recently purchased the two separate parcels of land on either side of Kingsburg Road (the farm and the ocean lot) to restore the old Mossman homestead to one piece. Original farmsteads with acreage, deep forest, water views and ocean access are becoming difficult to find – and ours is less than fifteen minutes from historic Lunenburg! Our goal is to provide an opportunity for families to relax, reconnect with nature and with each other during summer of fun that will last a lifetime in memory.
